Beryl Bikes can be unlocked in the app via contactless or the 6-digit unlock ID.
Contactless
Open the app and tap the unlock button, then hold your device over the unlock pad in the centre of the handlebars until you hear a chime and the lock opens.
Unlock ID
You can unlock the vehicle using its unique unlock ID. Open the app and tap enter unlock ID, then enter the 6-digit number found on the unlock pad in the centre of the handlebars.
You can also unlock via SMS, find out more here.
What can I do if the bike does not unlock?
The rear lock is stuck
Try manually pulling up the lock bolt or giving it a wiggle.
In some cases, the locks can get stuck on the spokes. Try rotating the wheel slightly to create a gap between the lock and the spokes, then gently wiggle the lock to release it.
If you have tried unlocking the bike using contactless, try again using the unlock ID instead.
Vehicle is unavailable
When attempting to unlock the vehicle, you will receive a message letting you know if the vehicle is unavailable to hire. Vehicles are made unavailable for hire if they require maintenance or are out of battery.
Leeds and Manchester: The front lock has not been released
If the front lock does not disengage when you hire the bike, please try pushing the bike completely into the stand before trying to unlock it.
If the bike has been pulled out and the front lock is at an angle, it can jam the lock. Please do not pull the bike out of the stand until it has unlocked.
If you are still struggling to unlock the bike, please send a message to our support team for assistance.
