Whether you're riding one of our classic pedal bikes or a zippy e-Bike, locking up properly is key to ending your journey (and avoiding extra charges)
β
Here's how to finish your ride the right way π
β
Pedal Bikes & E-Bikes (Manual Lock)
These bikes use a manual lock, so it's up to you to make sure they're secured at the end of your ride
β
Here's how:
β Find an active Beryl Bay to park in
π Locate the lock on the left-hand side, just above the rear wheel
β¬οΈ Push the metal knob down firmly to close the lock
π Youβll hear a chime and see the rear light flash
π± Check your app for confirmation that the journey has ended
β οΈ If your ride is still active, the lock might not be fully closed. Try pushing it again until it clicks into place.
β
π οΈ Trouble Locking the Bike?
If you're unable to push the lock all the way down, itβs likely that a spoke is blocking the lock.
β
π Simply rotate the rear wheel slightly and try again. This should free up the space the lock needs to close properly.
β
E-Bikes (Remote Lock via App)
Our latest e-Bikes are even easier to lock. Itβs all done through the app.
β
Here's how:
β Find an active Beryl Bay to park in
π² Open your Beryl app
π Tap 'End Journey'
You'll hear a chime when the bike locks successfully, and the app will confirm the end of your ride.
β
βWhy Locking Matters
If your bike isnβt locked correctly:
π¨ Your ride will stay live
πΈ Youβll continue to be charged
So whether you're locking by hand or using the app, take a few extra seconds to double check. It saves time, money, and keeps the bikes safe for the next rider π
