During your ride, you can lock the vehicle and pause the ride to make a quick stop instead of ending the ride. Need to pop to the shop quickly? This feature allows you to do so without paying any additional parking or unlock fees.
How do I pause my ride?
Pausing a bike/e-Bike ride:
There are two different ways to pause your ride.
While on a ride, open the app and tap 'pause my ride'. This will take you to another screen directing you to lock your bike. Once the bike is locked it will automatically pause your current ride.
If you lock the bike before selecting 'pause my ride', you can still use the pause feature. The app will give you a 60-second window where you can choose to pause your ride instead of ending it. If you don't choose to pause your ride during this minute, the ride will end.
Pausing an e-Scooter ride:
While on a ride, open the app and tap 'pause my ride'. Once the scooter is locked, your ride will be paused.
Please wait for the 15-minute countdown to start to confirm that the ride has been paused successfully.
How long can I pause my ride?
You can pause for a maximum of 15 minutes each stop, unless you are using a Cargo bike which can be paused for up to 2 hours.
You can make multiple stops throughout your journey, but each stop can only be a maximum of 15 minutes or 2 hours for Cargo bikes.
You can unlock your vehicle and continue riding at any point before the pause time is up.
How much does it cost to pause?
Pay as you ride: Pausing your ride is charged at the same per-minute cost as riding.
Minute Bundle: Each minute paused will deduct a minute from your minute balance.
Day pass: Pausing your ride is included in the cost of a Day Pass. So you've plenty of time for lunch!
Riding Passes (Brighton): Pausing your ride is included in the maximum journey time of 30 minutes with your riding pass. So if you pause for 10 minutes, it will take this from your riding pass.
How do I unlock my bike and resume my ride once paused?
If you have successfully paused your ride, the app will enter a 'ride paused' state. Here you can unlock the vehicle by simply tapping 'unlock bike' and confirming your request.
You don't need to use NFC or enter the bike ID to unlock.
Make sure you are next to the vehicle once you're ready to unlock.
How do I end my ride?
As the vehicle is already locked during the paused state, you can end your ride remotely if you decide not to continue the ride. Simply open the app and tap 'end ride' in the bottom right, then confirm the request.
If you've resumed a ride and have the vehicle unlocked, you can end the ride as normal by parking and locking the vehicle. Please check your app to verify that your journey has ended correctly before leaving the vehicle.
Be aware that parking charges may apply once the ride has ended.
Do I have to pay parking fees if I pause my ride?
If you pause your ride outside a Beryl Bay or Zone you will not be charged whilst the ride is paused.
However, if you end your ride in the app, or the ride ends because the 15-minute period has passed, you will be charged any standard convenience fees based on the current vehicle location. See our website for more information on fees.
Although you won't be charged out of bay fees while your ride is paused, please make sure to park your vehicle in a considerate location even if you're only leaving it for a few minutes on pause.
What happens when my pause time runs out?
If you have paused your ride and run over the allotted time, your ride will end automatically.
If you have allowed notifications, you will receive notifications leading up to the end of the 15 minutes to remind you that your time is almost up.
Remember you will also be charged any out of bay or out of zone fees if they apply.
Can someone else hire my bike while my ride is paused?
No, while you have paused your ride, your vehicle will not be available for another person to hire and will not appear on the app.
If you end the ride in the app, or your pause period runs out, your journey will end and at this point, someone else will be able to hire the vehicle.
