Finding a Beryl vehicle
Beryl e-vehicles can be found in Beryl bays along with our standard pedal bikes. To find an e-bike or e-scooter, check in the app for the e-bike icon ⚡️ and the e-scooter icon 🛴showing that there are e-bikes or e-scooters in a bay.
Click on the bay icon to open a panel that shows how many e-bikes/e-scooters are available and their battery range.
You can also find free-floating e-bikes or e-scooters by looking on the map for the round ⚡️ or 🛴 icon.

How to unlock a Beryl vehicle
All Beryl vehicles are unlocked using the Beryl app. You can use NFC or the Unlock ID.
Beryl Bikes can be unlocked in two different ways:
Contactless
Android devices
Simply hold the phone over the unlock pad in the centre of the handlebars until you hear a chime and the lock on the rear wheel snap open.
iOS devices
Open the app and tap the unlock button. Then hold your device over the unlock pad in the centre of the handlebars until you hear a chime and the lock on the rear wheel snap open.
Bike ID
Not all devices are contactless enabled. In this case, you can unlock the vehicle using its unique unlock ID. Simply open the app and tap the unlock button. Then enter the 6-digit unlock ID found on the unlock pad in the centre of the handlebars.
Even if contactless unlocking is compatible with your phone, you can still unlock the bike using the unlock ID.
Android devices
At the bottom of your screen tap "unlock help". This will show a menu which will give you the option to unlock with your bike ID. You can then enter the 6-digit unlock ID found on the unlock pad in the centre of the handlebars.
iOS devices
Slide up the unlock card at the bottom of your screen to reveal the unlock help. Tap "unlock help". This will show a menu which will give you the option to unlock with your unlock ID. You can then enter the 6-digit unlock ID found on the unlock pad in the centre of the handlebars.
Troubleshooting
The lock is stuck on my bike
Make sure the lock is free to open and is not obstructed by the spokes of the wheel.
If the lock is free to open but is still having issues, try manually pulling up the lock bolt or giving it a wiggle to aid the lock in opening. Try this before and during the unlocking process when you hear the lock mechanism whirring.
Vehicle is unavailable
When attempting to unlock the vehicle, you will receive a message letting you know if the vehicle is unavailable to hire. Vehicles are made unavailable if they have been marked in need of repair or collection by our team. We suggest locating another vehicle and continuing your journey.
