How to Lock Your Bike and End Your Ride ๐Ÿ”

Guide on how to lock your bike, e-bike or e-Scooter

Written by Scott

Whether you're riding one of our classic pedal bikes or a zippy e-Bike, locking up properly is key to ending your journey (and avoiding extra charges)
โ€‹
Here's how to finish your ride the right way ๐Ÿ‘‡
โ€‹

Pedal Bikes & E-Bikes (Manual Lock)

These bikes use a manual lock, so it's up to you to make sure they're secured at the end of your ride
โ€‹

Here's how:

  1. โœ… Find an active Beryl Bay to park in

  2. ๐Ÿ”Ž Locate the lock on the left-hand side, just above the rear wheel

  3. โฌ‡๏ธ Push the metal knob down firmly to close the lock

  4. ๐Ÿ”” Youโ€™ll hear a chime and see the rear light flash

  5. ๐Ÿ“ฑ Check your app for confirmation that the journey has ended

โš ๏ธ If your ride is still active, the lock might not be fully closed. Try pushing it again until it clicks into place.
โ€‹

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Trouble Locking the Bike?

If you're unable to push the lock all the way down, itโ€™s likely that a spoke is blocking the lock.
โ€‹

๐Ÿ”„ Simply rotate the rear wheel slightly and try again. This should free up the space the lock needs to close properly.
โ€‹

โšก Segways, Pedal Bikes (Belfast) & E-Bikes (Remote Lock via App)

Segways, some pedal bikes in Belfast, and some e-bikes are even easier to lock. Itโ€™s all done through the app.
โ€‹

Here's how:

  1. โœ… Find an active Beryl Bay to park in

  2. ๐Ÿ“ฒ Open your Beryl app

  3. ๐Ÿ”˜ Tap 'End Journey'

You'll hear a chime when the bike locks successfully, and the app will confirm the end of your ride.
โ€‹

โ—Why Locking Matters

If your bike isnโ€™t locked correctly:

  • ๐Ÿšจ Your ride will stay live

  • ๐Ÿ’ธ Youโ€™ll continue to be charged

So whether you're locking by hand or using the app, take a few extra seconds to double check. It saves time, money, and keeps the bikes safe for the next rider ๐Ÿ’š
