What is the Beryl Zone? π
Beryl vehicles are designed to operate within a specific, large area called the Beryl Zone. This zone is set in partnership with local councils. You can see the exact boundaries clearly marked in the app, and thereβs also a map available on our website.
β
Riding Across Zone Boundaries π¦
If you start your ride inside the Beryl Zone, you can cross the boundaries with no penalty as long as you finish and lock your vehicle back inside the zone.
β
Locking Outside the Beryl Zone β
If you lock your bike or scooter outside the Beryl Zone, an Out of Zone charge will be added to your ride. You can still unlock the vehicle and ride it back into the zone, but be aware that every time you lock outside the zone, the fee applies, even if you just lock the vehicle briefly, like to pop into a shop.
β
Leaving Vehicles Outside the Zone for Too Long β³
If a vehicle is left outside the zone for more than 24 hours, an extra Β£80 penalty fee will be charged to cover the cost of recovering and returning the vehicle to the Beryl Zone.
β
Safety First π¨
We will never lock a vehicle remotely when it crosses zone boundaries as this could be dangerous for riders.
