There are two simple ways to pause your ride and keep your journey going smoothly.
Pause Method 1: Pause from the App 📱
While you’re riding, just open the Beryl app and tap ‘Pause my ride’. You’ll be directed to lock your bike. Once the bike is locked, your ride will automatically pause.
Pause Method 2: Lock First, Then Pause 🔒
If you lock your bike before tapping ‘Pause my ride’, don’t worry! The app gives you a one-minute window to choose whether to pause your ride or end it. If you don’t select pause within this minute, your ride will end automatically. Failing to confirm the pause within this window may result in additional charges.
What Does Pausing Cost? 💰
Pay as you ride: Pausing is charged at the same per-minute rate as riding.
Minute Bundle: Each minute paused will deduct from your minute balance.
Day Pass: Pausing your ride will deduct a minute from your Day Pass minute balance.

When you’re ready to go, just tap ‘Unlock bike’ in the app and continue your journey.
Important to Know ⚠️
If you don’t unlock your bike within 30 minutes of pausing, your ride will automatically end, and any applicable out-of-bay or out-of-zone fees will be charged. Leaving a vehicle unlocked without pausing or ending the ride in a designated bay will result in the system treating it as abandoned, leading to fines.If you accidentally end your ride instead of pausing, you may incur charges such as out-of-bay fees. Refunds can be issued after review if you rehire the vehicle and complete the journey correctly. Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to process, depending on your bank.You can pause for up to 15 minutes without incurring out-of-bay fees. After 15 minutes, out-of-bay fees may apply, and after 30 minutes, your ride will automatically end.
