We have different options available for payment so you can choose the best option for your rides on the Isle of Wight. Payment depends on how long you are riding for and whether you end your ride by locking the e-Scooter in a bay or in a free-floating location.
Option 1: Pay as you ride
This option is best for a single ride. You pay £1.50 to unlock the e-scooter, then 10p per minute of riding. At the end of the ride, we calculate how long you used the scooter for and your card will be charged.
Example: You unlock the e-scooter and ride for 15 minutes. You end the ride in a Beryl Bay.
Unlock fee: £1.50
Price per minute: 10p
You pay: £1.50 + (10p x 15 minutes) = £1.50 + £1.50 = £3.00
Option 2: Minute bundles
This option is best for regular riders. You buy a bundle of minutes upfront and we deduct minutes from your balance depending on how long you ride for. The cost of one minute of riding is 5p.
Unlock fee: £1.50
Price per minute: 5p (deducted from your minutes balance)
Our Minute Bundles can be used across all Beryl cities. Minutes cost 5p per minute.
100 minutes = £5
200 minutes = £10
300 minutes = £15
400 minutes = £20
Option 3: Day pass
Our e-scooters are NOT included in a Day Pass.
If you have an active Day Pass on your account and hire an e-scooter, you will be charged either the Pay As You Ride or Minute Bundle rate.
Convenience fee for out of bay parking: You'll be charged the convenience fee if you are on a Pay-as-you-ride or Minute Bundle pass, and end your ride outside a Beryl Bay. The convenience fee covers the operational cost incurred to return the e-scooter to a bay so another user can ride. Isle of Wight out of bay fee: £10
Out of Beryl Zone fee: Beryl operates within large operating zones, agreed with the local authority. If you lock an e-scooter outside the operating zone, a fee will be charged. Isle of Wight out of zone fee: £25
If the e-scooter is not brought back into the operating zone within 24 hours, an additional £80 fee will be charged to cover the cost of recovering the e-scooter.
Unlocked e-scooter fee: At the end of your ride, please make sure you lock your e-scooter correctly whether in or out of a bay. When you lock the e-scooter, it will chime to let you know. Please check in the app to make sure your e-scooter has correctly registered as locked. If you forget to lock your e-scooter and leave it unlocked, your journey will continue. Unlocked and unattended e-scooters are at higher risk of being stolen or vandalised, and will not appear as available on the app to other users who may need it.
A flat fee of £10 will be charged to cover the cost of us sending our operations team out to lock the e-scooter on your behalf. If you have accumulated a large bill due to the e-scooter being unlocked for a long period, this will be refunded and the £10 charge will be applied.
