PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE NOW DISTRIBUTED ALL THE FREE RIDES VOUCHERS FOR KEY WORKERS IN BCP THAT WERE AVAILABLE TO US. WE'LL UPDATE THIS ARTICLE IF AND WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO DISTRIBUTE FURTHER VOUCHERS.

We recommend Key workers in the BCP area take advantage of the current Wallisdown Road promotion.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We’re aware that many people aren't currently able to stay home as they’re working to protect and aid the general public. We want to ensure these individuals can still be mobile and maintain safe distances from others while travelling to and from their places of work.

Thanks to a block of funding from BCP Council, we can offer Beryl Bikes free to key workers across Bournemouth and Poole.

Key info:

  • Access is available for key workers in any sector. Key workers are defined by the list issued by the UK government. BCP Council have funded a block of vouchers for free rides for key workers - these will be distributed on a first come, first served basis until all vouchers have been distributed. PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE NOW DISTRIBUTED ALL THE VOUCHERS.
  • To start, download the Beryl app and sign up. Once you're set up with an account, please contact the Beryl customer support team via the in-app chat with details of your key worker status.
  • Trips must end in a Beryl Bay and be no longer than 60 minutes to qualify as being free of charge. The standard fees will still apply if you lock your bike out of bay (£2) or out of zone (£5).
  • We currently anticipate having free ride vouchers available until the end of June, or until all the vouchers have been distributed, whichever is first.

We believe in the power of a bike ride to bring moments of joy and calm into your day. We hope access to the bikes will help individuals retain those important moments in their day-to-day lives, as well as opening up options for as many people as possible to move around while keeping their distance from others.

FAQs

Can I request a Beryl Bay at my place of work?
Please request a bay HERE and include 'Key worker access' as the reason why. We'll work with BCP Council to get new bays designated as soon as we can.

Do I need to have a payment card associated with my account?
Yes, to unlock a Beryl Bike you must have a valid payment card associated to your Beryl Bike account. Your card will be charged with any out of bay or out of zone fees.
We'll run a pre-authorisation check of £1 on your card to make sure it has funds before allowing you to unlock a bike. (This is not a charge, just a temporary hold).
