Dear Londoners,

This morning, our team has taken the difficult decision to temporarily pause our service in London.

Operating a fully functional bike share service requires a large team of mechanics and operational staff behind-the-scenes to maintain and redistribute the bikes. As our most populous and largest city, the Beryl Bike service in London has a unique set of challenges in the current climate,  in maintaining the safety of our staff as well as providing the quality of service you’d expect from us.

As Londoners, we do not take this action lightly. We strongly believe in the positive benefits that cycling brings, especially in times of crisis.

With this in mind, while the public access is paused, we have made London-based Beryl Bikes available for personal loan, free of charge, to key workers who requested them.

All our available bikes have now been loaned out to key workers, so if you see a Beryl Bike in London, please don't try to hire it, as these bikes are being used for essential transport.

If you are a key worker in London and are looking for a bike to loan, unfortunately we don't have any more available. However, please contact our team at and we'll do our best to connect you to other options among our friends and partners.

All Minute Bundles have no expiration date and will be available for use once the scheme is fully running again. Refunds are always available upon request.

We are all in this together and look forward to delivering a renewed and revitalised service in the near future.

When will bikes return to London?

It's unclear when the current crisis will end and we'll be able to resume normal service in London. We'll be notifying users via email and in-app about changes to the situation, and we hope to have our bikes available for public use as soon as possible.
