Please be aware that during the months of July and August, BCP Council forbids cycling on the promenade in Bournemouth between 10am and 6pm every day. You can still pick up and park Beryl Bikes in the bays located on the seafront, but please don’t cycle on the promenade - walk your bike instead.

You can cycle at any time between Bournemouth pier and Boscombe pier - just make sure you stay on the road and aren't on the pedestrian promenade.

Alternative routes

There are several alternative routes you can take to avoid the promenade during the hours when cycling is restricted:

  • Check out the clearly signed NCN 25 quiet route from Bournemouth to Poole

  • Enjoy beautiful views of the Isle of Wight from Boscombe to Hengistbury Head along Southbourne Overcliff Drive

  • Pick up a bike at Poole Station and take a leisurely trip round Holes Bay to Upton Country Park. Return via Hamworthy Park and Poole Quay for a great circular ride around the Harbour.

Let’s promote happy summer seaside vibes for everyone!
