While you can hire, ride and park our Beryl vehicles across a large geographical area, some places are more crowded than others. We’re making sure our scooters are safe for all riders, residents and visitors, particularly during the busy summer months.

Zones in place this summer:

Christchurch - No Go Zone

Christchurch is a No Go Zone for Beryl Scooters at all times. If you ride a scooter into Christchurch it will automatically come slowly to a halt until you return to the Beryl zone.

You will need to dismount and walk with your scooter back into the Beryl Zone where you will be able to resume your journey.

Beryl Bikes and e-Bikes can be ridden in Christchurch as normal.

Bournemouth and Poole Promenades - Go Slow Zone

In accordance with local restrictions, the promenades are Go Slow Zones from 1 July to 4 September from 10am-6pm.

If you enter one of these zones your scooter will automatically and gradually reduce speed to 3mph.

Lower Gardens and Bournemouth Town Centre - Go Slow Zone

As the town gets busier during the school holidays, scooters will automatically slow to 7.5kmph from 1 August - 4 September.

When you are leaving a restricted zone, Press the ‘Go’ lever gently to avoid sudden acceleration when back in the Beryl Zone.

How to find the zones:

You can see the zones clearly marked in the app:

Beryl Zone: Outlined in pink and visible in-app. Please stay within the Beryl Zone. There's a penalty for parking outside a Beryl Zone, and scooters will be restricted out-of-zone.

Beryl Zones are outlined in pink

Go Slow Zone: Shaded in yellow with a tortoise and clock icon. Scooters will automatically and gradually slow to a reduced speed of 3mph. The clock icon highlights the hours when the restrictions are in place.

Beryl Zone timings are indicated with a blue clock logo

No Go Zone: Shaded in black with no entry icon. Scooters entering this zone will gradually slow to 3mph. You will need to walk your scooter back into the Beryl Zone to resume your ride. You will not be able to ride, pause, park or end your journey in this zone.

We will send you a notification to let you know if you are approaching a zone, and a further notification if you enter one. You will not be able to finish your journey in a No Go Zone.
