If you are riding with Beryl in Leeds, you might notice a pre-authorisation charge on your bank statement. Here’s what it means and why it happens.
Why Do We Do a Pre-Authorisation Card Check?
To make sure your card is valid, we perform a pre-authorisation check every time you:
Add a new card to your account
Start a journey
This quick check helps us confirm your payment details so you can enjoy smooth and secure rides.
How Much Does the Pre-Authorisation Cost?
For first-time riders, the pre-authorisation charge is £5.
After that, each card check will be £1.
How Does the Pre-Authorisation Charge Work?
On your bank statement, you’ll see the charge listed as 'BERYL CARD AUTH'.
This is not a payment, but a temporary hold on your funds via a pending charge to confirm your card is active.
The hold will usually be released within 7 working days, depending on your bank’s processing speed. Some banks even release it instantly! 💳
Important to Remember
Your actual journey cost is charged separately at the end of each ride. The pre-authorisation charge only confirms your card is ready for use and will not be deducted as your trip fare.
